Mercury Retrograde in Aries in Relation to our Zodiac Sign: Part I

Just like I promised, I dedicate this post, as well as the next one, to the relationship between Mercury retrograde in Aries and our zodiac sign. Following my previous post where I talked about the possibility of Mercury retrograde in Aries reflecting unusually pioneering ideas, I thought I should talk about how each zodiac sign is expected to incorporate Mercury’s energies by starting from the zodiac sign that usually appears last, that is, Pisces!

I remind you that Mercury has been retrograde since March 30 and will be so until April 22, on which day it will turn direct and won’t go back into retrograde motion until next August. If, as I suspect, you’re only interested to read about your personal zodiac sign (or the sign of your loves ones), please scroll down until you find it. Each paragraph is devoted to a different sign, Pisces coming first, Aquarius second, Capricorn third, and so on. If you’re not quite sure under which zodiac sign you were born, you will notice the start and end dates of each sign being depicted in brackets next to the name of the corresponding sign.

Please also note the following two things: a) If you’re born on the cusp between two adjacent zodiac signs (e.g., April 20, which would be the end of Aries and the beginning of Taurus), you might find it useful to read both signs and b) you might find it equally useful to read the sign of your Ascendant as well. For example, someone who was born on May 21 and has Scorpio ascending (like me!) would get more out of reading the signs of Taurus, Gemini and Scorpio.
This post covers the following signs: Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Libra. My next post will cover the six remaining signs: Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini, Taurus and Aries.

Pisces (February 19 – March 19)

Transitting your second natural house, which is related to material security, personal resources and sense of personal worth, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues above. For instance, our Piscean friends may receive salary, or money they had lent, later or unusually faster than expected. Another possibility is that they come up with unusually enthusiastic and pioneering ideas to make money or that they decide in an unusually quick and bold manner to spend money on products that are related to knowledge, communication and travelling (e.g., books, telephones, computers, cars). On a more psychological level, our Piscean friends may base their self-esteem on communicating their ideas and opinions in an unusually courageous, enthusiastic and determined manner.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Transitting your third natural house, which has to do with learning, communicating and relating with neighbours and close relatives, such as siblings, uncles and cousins, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues and people mentioned above. For instance, our Aquarian friends may experience delays and obstacles in their learning and educational activities, as well as in their communications with neighbours and siblings and in their short-distance travelling. Our Aquarian friends may also experience, however, unusually quick, enthusiastic and perhaps competitive communications and transactions with schoolmates, teachers, neighbours and siblings. On a more psychological level, it seems that our Aquarian friends’ minds seem to be working either in a more reflective, hence slower, manner or in a way that is unusually quick, enthusiastic and even competitive and pioneering.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Transitting your fourth natural house, which has to do with parents (usually the father), family, private life and the past, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues and people mentioned above. For instance, our Capricornian friends may experience delays and misunderstandings in their communications with family members and in home-related transactions, but it may also be a time when they experience an unusually urgent need to find out or to talk about things concerning their past. On a more psychological level, it appears that our Capricornian friends find inner peace and security either in having unusually speedy, courageous and enthusiastic conversations and transactions or in taking their time to ponder and reflect.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Transitting your fifth natural house, which has to do with children, love affairs, sports, gambling and any creative or other joyful pursuit, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues and people mentioned above. For instance, our Sagittarian friends may experience delays and misunderstandings in their communications with their children and romantic partners or in their transactions concerning sports, gambling, hobbies and other creative or artistic activities. They may also, however, exhibit an unusually quick and enthusiastic interest in going to the gym, practicing sports, having fun and engaging in creative or other artistic pursuits. On a more psychological level, our Sagittarian friends may have an unusually determined and urgent desire to be noticed and recognised for activities related to learning, trading, driving and networking, but they may also have to face some delays and setbacks before they gain this recognition.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Transitting your sixth natural house, which has to do with work, health, duties, daily routines, colleagues and employers, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues and people mentioned above. For instance, our Scorpio friends may experience delays and misunderstandings in their communications and transactions with colleagues, employers and even practical caretakers, such as plumbers and electricians, but they may also come up with unusually pioneering, courageous and competitive ideas regarding their work and daily routines, duties and responsibilities. On a more psychological level, any illnesses or other health problems that our Scorpio friends may have to deal with during this period will seem to have originated in preoccupation and anxiety over a) delays and obstacles in communications, transportations, educational activities and commercial transactions or b) over the unusual degree of riskiness, competitiveness or even violence of these communications and transactions.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Transitting your seventh natural house, which has to do with one-to-one relationships, husbands and wives, partnerships, litigations and open enemies, Mercury retrograde in Aries reflects delays and setbacks, but also unusually quick, enthusiastic and pioneering ideas, communications and transactions in relation to the issues and people mentioned above. For instance, our Libra friends may experience delays and misunderstandings in their communications with love partners, spouses and business partners, as well as with lawyers and judges, but they may also have unusually quick, enthusiastic and bold conversations with these same people. On a more psychological level, our Libra friends may notice a tendency to discount or disown their personal intelligence, ideas and opinions, as well as their need to be understood, which may result in recognising, admiring and respecting these in others.

  1. So accurate! Your Sagittarian friend got the driving license this month after the 4th attempt, sat for exams for a management certificate and last but not least started baking bread and sweets (needless to say of course that I probably mention all the above so as to get some more recognition, hahaha). Cheers!
