Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: Balancing between possessiveness and sharing!

On April 25th 2013 at 7:57 pm, GMT, a partial lunar eclipse takes place in the Taurus-Scorpio axis with the Moon at the 5th degree of Scorpio. Although eclipses, especially lunar ones, cause fear and are traditionally regarded as bad omens, it would be useful to clarify here that eclipses mark the culmination of events and emotions, be they positive or negative. More specifically, a lunar eclipse is a full moon where the Earth is in such a position that it casts its shadow over the Moon, which then intensifies the importance of such a full moon. Although there is no consensus on the duration of the influence of eclipses, it is generally accepted that the pinnacle of their influence is experienced up to one month before and one month after the eclipse. So, we could say that both this month and the next one move to the rhythm of this eclipse. Not to mention that the solar eclipse of May 10th will also take place in the Taurus-Scorpio axis.

The current eclipse is characterized by the Moon being conjunct Saturn in Scorpio. This is a planetary duo that is at odds not only with the Sun but also with Mars and Venus in Taurus. Given that the signs of Taurus and Scorpio are the two poles of the so-called axis of material and emotional exchange, this lunar eclipse emphasizes our need to strike a balance in this area. So, questions such as these will be of particular concern these days: "What is mine and what is yours?", "What do I keep for me and what do I share with you?", "What do you give me and what do I give you?" "Should I rely on myself or should I rely on you?" The answers to these questions will not come easy and they should be treated with seriousness and responsibility given Saturn’s involvement. Indeed, the Moon’s South Node in Taurus conjunct its ruler Venus shows that we’ll find it much easier to attach value to possessiveness. We may thus feel safer in retaining what we consider ours, especially when it comes to money and material possessions. Furthermore, the Sun-Mars conjunction in the same sign points to important initiatives that may also aim at retaining rather than sharing possessions.

Nevertheless, if we take into account the fact that Mars and Pluto (which is in mutual reception with Saturn) jointly rule the Moon’s North Node in Scorpio, then we may realize that if we don’t learn to share our material possessions and give of ourselves to others, then any initiatives towards retaining possessions will end up making it much more painful for us to accept that we should share what we have... After all, the fact that the trine/sextile aspect that Neptune in Pisces forms to the axis of the full moon is the tightest one received by this axis shows the following: it will be much easier for us to strike a balance between possessiveness and sharing once we embrace the ideals of selflessness and unconditional love. However, the five planets in fixed signs (Taurus-Scorpio) will only increase the tension and stubbornness, while Mercury in Aries will encourage communications that are characterized by selfishness and will to fight.

Here are some ideas regarding the areas of life that the eclipse will affect per sign. You’d better read the sign of your ascendant as well. As always, we start from the last zodiac sign in line with the tradition of my blog!

Pisces (February 19 - March 19)
The lunar eclipse calls for striking the right balance between being attached to your own personal views and opening your mental horizons. You may find yourself in a financial or emotional dilemma regarding a long trip you want to make or regarding higher studies you wish to pursue.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
The lunar eclipse signifies tension between your family and your professional obligations. Limitations posed by your career or your boss might not allow you to enjoy your time at home or with your family as much as you'd like.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
The lunar eclipse calls for striking the right balance between your social life and personal pursuits. Limitations posed by your social circle or some friend of yours may not allow you to enjoy your children or to spend as much time as you’d like on your creativity, entertainment and hobbies.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
The lunar eclipse will create emotional tension regarding the routine of your work and your desire to escape daily life. It may be that you cannot enjoy your work or your time with colleagues as much as you’d like, because you may be struggling with getting time off and resting.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
The lunar eclipse takes place in your sign and urges you to strike the right balance between personal autonomy and your relationship with a romantic or business partner. Potential restrictions posed on your personal freedom are perhaps the reason why you cannot enjoy your time with a romantic or business partner as much as you’d like.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
The lunar eclipse heightens emotions regarding your personal income and that of your partner. Personal financial difficulties might not allow you to really enjoy any financial support that you may be receiving from your partner or from some other source.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
The lunar eclipse seems to burden your mind with worries and obligations. Perhaps restrictions from your close environment (neighbors and close relatives) do not allow you to really enjoy a trip you may want to make or contacts you may be having with distant relatives and foreigners.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
The lunar eclipse invites you to strike the right balance between career and family obligations. Limitations related to your house or posed by your family may not allow you to really dedicate yourself to your career and boss.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
The lunar eclipse requires that you spend a lot of time with your children or in some creative project that does not allow you though to enjoy your social life or your friends as much as you’d like.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
The lunar eclipse brings tension between your daily responsibilities and your need to escape. Potential restrictions from colleagues or at work may not allow you to spend as much time as you’d like in resting and escaping from everyday life.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The lunar eclipse is opposite your sign, so it invites you to strike the right balance between yourself and a significant other in your life. Potential restrictions on your spouse or some professional partner may not allow you to enjoy your personal autonomy and freedom as much as you’d like.

Aries (March 20 - April 19)
The lunar eclipse heightens emotions regarding your partner’s finances or regarding some other financial issue (eg, taxes, banking, inheritance), so it doesn’t seem to allow you to enjoy your personal income as much as you’d like.
