New Moon in Aries: The Allegory of Plato’s Cave

On April 12, 2021, at 2.30am, GMT, there is a New Moon taking place in the enthusiastic, impulsive and combative sign of Aries. Like any New Moon, this one too invites us to a new beginning in that area of one's horoscope where it happens to fall. Due to the sign’s nature, beginnings are favored that concern personal desires and the need for autonomy and self-action. The simultaneous sextiles that the New Moon receives from its sponsor, Mars, and Jupiter are helpful and enhance the strength and confidence required of us to open new horizons with ease and momentum. After all, Mercury has left behind the conjunction with Chiron, freeing the mind from thoughts of inferiority and weakness and thus giving us a good and invigorating ‘injection’ of confidence.

In addition, the applying conjunction of the New Moon with Venus in the same sign reveals the need for an urgent and enthusiastic restart in terms of relationships, collaborations and economy. In fact, with five planets in Aries, one can safely speak of an almost unrestrained urge to restart, which, however, collides with the terms and conditions of danger and threat that Pluto signals from his precise square position with Venus. He, thus, makes direct reference to the 'Mother of all Battles', i.e. the January 13, 2021, New Moon.

The battle that was starting then reaches a turning point and the battlefield is now being set up. Together, the Underworld ‘wakes up’ and asks us to ‘honor’ it by delving into the depths of our souls to eliminate toxic patterns that do not serve our survival. Therefore, could it be time to realize that the things we may have valued for years were a shadow, a mere delusion, as if we were among the chained inhabitants of Plato's Cave? Could it then be time to break the chains, raise our heads and get out of the cave to face the Sun? Be careful though because the light will be blinding…
