Solar Eclipse in Aries: Inside the ‘Trauma Zone’…

On April 20, 2023, at 4:12am, GMT, there is a New Moon taking place in Aries, which is also a solar eclipse. It is the first eclipse of the year and, at the same time, the first to take place across the Aries-Libra axis, preparing us for the Lunar Nodes’ transition into that axis next July. Although eclipses do not have a good reputation, it's important to realize that they help us close and open important chapters in our lives to make up for any lack or shortage that one may be experiencing depending on the sector of one's horoscope where the eclipse happens to occur.

Solar eclipses, in general, highlight shortages related to our identity and creativity as well as our relationships with important male figures, such as father, husband or employer. The sign of Aries and, more specifically, its anaeretic degree, where the eclipse occurs, points to a lack of strength, independence or initiative that may sap one’s vitality or optimism and affect significant male figures in one’s life or the relationship with them. In fact, the square between the Lights and Pluto while Mercury goes retrograde over the difficult fixed star of Menkar talks about painful or traumatic experiences and power games that may go back many years. These experiences or power games will act as a catalyst for one to realize that they need to transform themselves first and then their relationships with the persons mentioned above.

During the process of transformation, one will need to confront oneself and to get rid of any parts of their identity with which they no longer identify. If the confrontation concerns important people in one’s life, especially men, then one will need to tread carefully because things may well get out of hand in relationships with relatives and siblings (out-of-bounds Venus and Mars in Gemini and Cancer and in a square with Saturn and Chiron respectively). It does seem, however, that there is no better time to return to the ‘trauma zone’ and consciously enter into the process of dealing with, accepting and healing the trauma in order to emerge triumphantly out of this zone (Jupiter = Sun/Chiron = Moon/Chiron). Will you then have the courage to return to the trauma zone and face your inner fears and demons?
